While You Wait

Depending on where you get tested and the type of test they use, your waiting period can be from just a few hours to a few days.

While you’re waiting for results, follow safety protocol, and continue wearing a mask and practicing social distancing.

If you chose to get tested because you were exposed, behave as if your test came back positive. Stay quarantined, and limit any in-person interactions with others until your test results come in.

What’s an incubation period?

An incubation period is the number of days between when a virus enters your body and when you start showing symptoms.

COVID-19’s incubation period is usually around 5 days, but can be up to 14 days. That’s why quarantining for 2 weeks after you’ve been exposed to the virus is so important.
